Katrina Darcy-Smith is a textile artist and painter based in Belfast. She is a graduate of The Belfast School of Art in 1990 from Fine Craft Design. She is interested in the collective systems and benefits of studio practice and prior to joining Creative Exchange, Katrina cultivated this interest and her practice as part of Crescent Studios at Kilkenny Design Studios, Ireland. 

 

Darcy-Smith's work explores the cycle of human emotions in response to lifecycles present in the natural world, life cycles such as the weather and varieties of flora and fauna. These are presented on canvas through the application of vibrant colour and sometimes mixed media applications. 

 

Katrina has exhibited internationally with selected exhibitions at Catto Gallery, London and Museum of Contemporary Arts Taipei. More recently her work has been included in exhibitions across Ireland and Scotland.
