Isabel Duffy
Isabel Duffy is a Belfast based visual artist from Margate. Her work is centered around experiments in collage and printmaking inspired by Dada and Surrealist practices of automatism and detournement exploring themes of home, identity, dreams and memory.
Isabel collects, extracts and enlarges imagery from found materials which she combines with her own photography. Stitching together sources through close cropping and manipulation, she creates surreal and often abstract scenes that juxtapose and recontextualise elements with
playful and curious energy.
Isabel has founded artist collectives in Edinburgh (This and That) and Belfast (Cotyledon), organising group shows, art markets and sharing her love and joy of collage in monthly collaborative collage clubs. She has created murals, displayed as part of a public art trail ‘Policing Art’ in Edinburgh in 2021 and is currently developing her series of
collage sculpture ‘Constellations’.

Emerging Exchange Artist
Thanks to financial support from Belfast City Council via the Artist Studios Organisational Grant 2024/25 Creative Exchange secured additional temporary studio spaces in Portview Trade Centre. Emerging Exchange is a pilot project investigating how the organisation might build capacity as we expand our remit with a view to securing long-term, purpose built artist studios on site in the coming years. These spaces are aimed specifically for artists who are in the early stages of their career and who have had limited or no access to a studio space previously.
