Eimear Campbell
Eimear Campbell is a visual artist based in Belfast, originally from rural County Tyrone.
Eimear creates contemporary semi-abstract landscapes, with the primary medium being acrylics, often combined with mixed media. Her objective is to create paintings that portray the emotions and sensual experiences felt when immersed in a landscape. Through layers of strokes and marks of bold colour against calming tones in her vibrant paintings, she invites viewers to connect with her work through their own memory and interactions with their environment.
Her work explores the tension and harmony between organic and synthetic in the landscape of the island of Ireland, where urban and rural are never far apart.
Eimear graduated with a BA Hons in Photography from Ulster University in 2015, photography has a strong influence on her practice and how she views the landscape. She captures moments from life and travels through photography that profoundly influence her paintings. During University she worked on various projects that predominantly focused on the need for nature in our urban environments, this idea has been consistent throughout her artistic career. Emerging Exchange Artist
Thanks to financial support from Belfast City Council via the Artist Studios Organisational Grant 2024/25 Creative Exchange secured additional temporary studio spaces in Portview Trade Centre. Emerging Exchange is a pilot project investigating how the organisation might build capacity as we expand our remit with a view to securing long-term, purpose built artist studios on site in the coming years. These spaces are aimed specifically for artists who are in the early stages of their career and who have had limited or no access to a studio space previously.
