July 24th - August 2nd
Exhibition in Creative Exchange for Eastside Arts Festival 2026

This exhibition has been organised by family and members of Creative Exchange Artists Studios to look back at the work of one of the studio’s founder members, who sadly died last year. Ray spent a lifetime immersed in the arts as a teacher and artist. Throughout his life as a painter he returned to abstraction and this exhibition will show a small selection of paintings starting from the late 1960’s through to those made in the last ten years.
In terms of an approach to painting Ray worked intuitively, playing with harmony, discord and edges while limiting the shapes and colours he used to ‘wring as much out of them as possible’. Some of his work has recently been purchased by the Ulster Museum and this is a chance to see some of his paintings, in the Portview studio where he worked for over 16 years. Ray said ‘I find life mysterious, there is so much that I don’t understand, so my paintings have to have a certain amount of mystery.’
Opening Reception: July 24th 5pm - 8pm. Free & all welcome to attend, no booking required.
Exhibition Dates: July 24th - Aug 2nd (opening time vary, please check back in July for more details on opening times and additional events linked to the exhibition).
