This finance for self-employed creatives session is tailored to those working in the creative sector in NI, particularly those who are just beginning or considering their self employed journey.
The workshop will be a supportive environment for individuals to learn and gain confidence in managing their self employed finances. With plenty of time to ask questions, share notes and build a system that works for you.
The session will cover
Use of financial templates for record-keeping
Registering as a self employed artist/practitioner
Practical information on financial record keeping
How to submit a tax return online
The training opportunity is presented by Portview Trade Centre in partnership with Creative Exchange Artist Studios. It has been supported by Urban Villages and the NI Executive Office.

Delivered by Sinéad O’Neill-Nicholl For almost 20 years, Sinéad O’Neill-Nicholl was employed in the NI Civil Service, working in management roles within Finance and IT. She gained extensive experience in government accounting procedures and management accounts as well as training and development in leadership skills. Sinéad is a qualified accountant technician and holds both a BA and MFA Fine Art and is also an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Sinéad is currently working as a Mentor and Coach in the wider arts sector. She has also delivered and facilitated workshops and courses across a wide range of creative fields in colleges, schools and independently.Sinéad is former Chair and trustee of Vault Artist Studios and represented them on the Arts and Business Blueprint Programme and holds key roles in several local arts organisations, including, Household Belfast CIC (2019-present) and Creative Exchange Artist Studios (2022-present).
