Creative Exchange Artist Studios is proud to be part of a new initiative aimed at strengthening Belfast’s vibrant network of artist-led spaces. The programme developed through a partnership between Arts & Business NI and Belfast City Council brings together eleven creative studios and workspaces across the city for a six-month journey of development, collaboration, and support.
The Artist’s Studio Programme is designed to empower creative workspaces like ours by providing bespoke training, peer mentoring, and expert guidance. It recognises the vital role that artist studios play not only in supporting creative practice, but also in contributing to the social, cultural, and economic life of the city.
“Artist-led spaces are essential to the cultural fabric of our communities,” said Brona Whittaker, Head of Arts at Arts & Business NI. “They support artists at every stage of their careers and are crucial in enabling cultural events, festivals, and exhibitions to happen.”
Over the next six months, the programme will offer support in key areas such as leadership development, financial planning, and fundraising tools that are critical to building more resilient and sustainable creative spaces.
At Creative Exchange, we see this as an opportunity to strengthen our own foundations and also to connect with peers across Belfast’s studio network. As we continue to provide space for artists to experiment, grow, and collaborate, we hope this support will help ensure our collective future is both dynamic and sustainable.
We look forward to sharing our progress as the programme unfolds and to continuing our mission of supporting artists here in East Belfast and beyond.
